GamerPlug launched publicly in January 2026, bringing clip-first teammate discovery to iOS, Android, and the web. The premise was simple: stop queuing solo with strangers and start playing with people whose gameplay you’ve actually seen. After the web preview went live in September 2025, the full mobile release marked the moment the platform became available to every gamer with a phone.

The Origin

GamerPlug was founded in September 2025 in Austin, Texas by Ion and Abed — two engineers and gamers who were tired of the same problem every competitive player hits eventually: the people in your lobby rarely match how you play, and finding the ones who do takes more effort than the game itself. They set out to fix that at the infrastructure level, not just slap a Discord link on a landing page.

What Shipped at Launch

The January 2026 release was the full platform, not a beta. Every core feature went live simultaneously across iOS, Android, and the web. Clip-first player discovery A swipe deck of players who share your games, filtered by the criteria you set. Every profile leads with gameplay clips rather than a static photo, so you judge a potential teammate on how they actually play before sending a request. Clip-first profiles Upload gameplay video instead of a static photo or a self-reported rank. Your profile shows how you actually play — including decision-making, mechanics, and game sense — before anyone sends a request. Automatic game stat syncing Add your in-game name for supported titles and GamerPlug imports verified ranks and stats automatically. Your profile stays current without manual updates. Squad chat Coordinate with the players you match with before anyone queues, with each player’s availability visible before you ping anyone. Voice and text chat Low-latency voice chat and persistent text threads are built directly into every squad — no third-party app required. Strategy survives between sessions instead of disappearing with the lobby. Community reputation system A community-driven reputation model weights who you get matched with. Rage-quitters and griefers fall out of your rotation without anyone needing to file a formal report. 15+ supported games at launch Apex Legends, Valorant, Fortnite, Call of Duty, League of Legends, Rocket League, Overwatch 2, PUBG, Marvel Rivals, NBA 2K, Halo, For Honor, Escape from Tarkov, Super Smash Bros., Arc Raiders, and more — each with its own player pool, stat mappings, and role definitions. iOS and Android availability Available immediately on the iOS App Store and Google Play from day one.
