# How to Create and Host a Gaming Tournament on GamerPlug

> Host your own gaming tournament on GamerPlug. Set the game, format, prize pool, and schedule — then invite players from the community to compete.

Any GamerPlug player or organization can host a tournament event — from a casual community double header to a structured competitive division event. You set the game, the format, the prize pool, and the schedule, then share the link and watch your bracket fill up. The same community you already use to find teammates is the community that will register for your event.

## How to Create a Tournament

<Steps>
  <Step title="Go to Tournaments and tap 'Create Event'">
    Head to the Tournaments tab and tap **Create Event**, or go directly to [gamerplug.app/en/tournaments/create](https://gamerplug.app/en/tournaments/create). You'll be taken to the event creation form.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the game">
    Choose the title your tournament will be played in — for example, Apex Legends, Valorant, Fortnite, or League of Legends. This determines which leaderboard stat the event tracks.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the tournament name, format, and region">
    Give your event a clear, descriptive name — it shows up in the community feed. Choose a format (Single Elimination, Battle Royale, or others) and select the region (North America, Global, etc.) so players know if they're eligible.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the start date and time (UTC)">
    All tournament times display in UTC. Make sure to convert your local start time to UTC before entering it so participants in different time zones see the correct kick-off.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the prize pool">
    Mark the event as **Free** entry or specify a cash prize amount. The prize pool appears prominently on your tournament card, so it directly affects how many players register.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set max players or teams and registration rules">
    Define the player or team cap — a minimum of 2, with no upper limit for most titles. Fortnite events are capped at 100 players in the lobby, so your cap multiplied by team size has to stay within that. Once the cap is hit, the event closes to new registrants. Set any eligibility rules — platform restrictions, rank requirements, or open entry — in the registration settings.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a cover image and description">
    Upload a cover image that represents your event's theme or vibe. Write a description that explains the format, rules, and anything participants need to know before signing up.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Publish and share the tournament link">
    Tap **Publish** to make your event live in the community feed. Copy the tournament link and share it in your squad chat, on social, or anywhere your community hangs out.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Managing Your Tournament After Publishing

Once your event is live, GamerPlug gives you the tools to run it smoothly.

**Activity feed** — post updates, answer questions, and drop the lobby code right before start time. All registered participants see the feed once they join, so it's the primary coordination channel.

**Team map** — for Apex Legends events, the team map generates your teams and seats from the event's max teams and team size, mirroring Apex's Private Match admin panel. Drag players into seats or let them assign themselves, rename teams inline, auto-fill the remainder, and copy the finished roster. Use it to spot incomplete teams and confirm everyone has a seat before kick-off.

**Leaderboard** — the tournament leaderboard auto-generates based on game-specific stats (e.g. Apex ranked points). You don't need to manually enter results — the platform tracks standings as the event progresses.

**Brackets** — for single-elimination events, generate a bracket from your confirmed players. GamerPlug seeds it server-side, assigns byes automatically when the player count isn't a power of two, and advances winners round by round as you pick them. The bracket gets its own shareable page.

## Private Events

Set an event to **Private** if you'd rather not run an open sign-up. Private events still appear in the tournaments list with a lock badge, and anyone with the link can view the details — but joining requires a password you set.

Organizers and anyone you've already invited skip the password entirely. Set visibility and the password from the event's settings after publishing.

## Best Practices

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Promote in your squad chat before publishing publicly">
    Share a preview of your event with your closest squad members or community first. Getting a few confirmed registrations before the event goes public builds social proof and encourages others to join when they see active participants.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Post the lobby code in the activity feed right before start time">
    Don't share the lobby code too early — drop it in the activity feed 5–10 minutes before the tournament begins. This keeps the lobby from filling with spectators or unauthorized players, and ensures everyone registered is watching the feed at the right time.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Use a descriptive name — it shows up in the community feed">
    Your tournament name is the first thing players see in the feed. Names like *Community Double Header with Luckyshots X DBellGuns* tell potential registrants exactly what they're getting into. Avoid generic names — a specific, energetic title gets more clicks and more registrations.
